This is not a decade that you can just sit on your hands and let things be business as usual. You need to take action.
I find Jordan Belfort very inspiring, not because he’s a great motivational speaker but because he’s the average human being. His desires, mistakes, priorities, ambitions and his dreams. We’re all like him but most of us haven’t acted accordingly.
In his book, Jordan Belfort, talked about the secret to success and the secret to failure. He also talked about his mistakes; his #1 mistake was his destructive belief, destructive beliefs are inserted in us. He followed Gordon Gekko’s “Greed is good” and this is not true, he says, ambitious is good. The second greed walks in ethics go out. You need to have standards and keep them.
The existence of money might not buy you happiness but absence of money can buy you a miserable life. Getting money is very easy, what’s hard is fulfillment. This money should be used to make you closer to your family and loved ones and should help you and people around you.
There are four must-haves that can be applied to anything, anywhere by anyone in order to be successful. The difference between being amazing and extraordinary is millimeter so do these 4 things at the highest possible level:
1- Goals get abandoned but vision remains. Most people have goals in life, this is the first mistake. You need a vision, not a goal! See things as they are, not worse than they are so you don’t hold yourself down. Then see things better than they are and make them this way.
Gandhi survived hunger strike because he had a vision of uniting the country, he didn’t have a goal.
2- Fear is the worst emotion of all. If there’s one distinguish between wealthy people and poor is that wealthy people act in the face of fear while poor people run away. State Management is the art of managing your state and emotions. You need to control how you feel and your state in all kinds of situations.
3- Beliefs. They act like the governor in a car, limits its speed. The reality is subjective, you can have the beliefs that empower you and shed beliefs that limit you. Know what your limiting and discouraging beliefs are and root them out then replace them with empowering beliefs. No matter what happened to you in your past, you’re not your past, you’re the resources and capabilities and what you learnt from your failure.
4- You need a strategy. You can have all the above three must-haves but if you have a bad strategy you will fail.
If you have these four and you’re even mildly good at them you’re bound to succeed. Being successful can happen quickly but what takes time is to get these four lined-up to get to the point when you get successful quick.
What’s more interesting is that Jordan Belfort (and some of us) were already doing these things unconsciously. What makes you ethically successful and rich is doing these consciously and in a structured way. This is what he’s offering the world today.
